2 Cozy Coat: Polka Dots
This week I got to make a 2 Cozy Coat for one of the moms of Ceci's classmates. I love the fabric she picked, it's super cute white polka dots on a black background. I might just have to make myself another coat, maybe I'll try one of the other background colors, light blue or pink.

2 Cozy Coat: Neckline
The 2 Cozy Coat has a solid piece for the yolk (top front of coat, from shoulder to shoulder), there are no seams, zippers or buttons. This allows for the baby's head to rest comfortably on you while in your carrier. I also closed up the hood opening to make the coat warmer on your neck. This allows you to stay warmer while keeping your baby warm.

2 Cozy Coat
I started the idea for the 2 Cozy Coat over 4 years ago, I manipulated a really big men's fleece jacket from Old Navy to fit over Ceci and I when she was in the Baby Bjorn carrier. After she outgrew the carrier I put the jacket away until this fall when I started wearing it with Ellis, I can't tell you how many times people stopped me and asked where I got it. When they found out I had "made" it they told me to find a way to make more and sell them. During Ceci's class trip to the local pumpkin farm, one of the other moms who was pregnant gave me sincere praise and said she would in fact buy one if I could figure out how to make them. She lit one heck of a fire in my brain! From that point on I could hardly sleep, trying to figure out how to make this jacket.
After a few weeks of brainstorming and making prototypes I got pretty close to what I wanted. I wore it into Manhattan one late fall weekend and managed to turn quite a few heads, I couldn't have been more excited. With some more work, tweaking, brainstorming, and baby wearing, I have made a warm coat I'm happy to share with my children and the world.
The 2 Cozy Coat features flaps for the baby's arms to escape, with magnetic closures for those times when the baby's arms are tucked in, keeping both you and your little one warm. The top opening for the baby's head is nice and wide and accommodates various types of carriers. For you there are pockets that will easily hold the essentials, keys, cell phone, and the ever essential binky. The coat is very long, 3/4 length, to cover the baby's feet and keep both of you nice and cozy.
I have been using both Anti-pill fleece and Blizzard fleece to make the jackets out of and found that both are warm and snuggly. In my adventures so far I have found that dressing Ellis and myself, each in light jackets, and sharing the 2 Cozy Coat, we are warm together on even 30 degree (F) days. My friends that are using the coats have found pretty much the same results as well, a long sleeve shirt, or under armor type shirt usually does the trick for the parent and a light fleece or sweatshirt for the baby.
The 2 Cozy Coat is for everyone, Moms, Dads, Nannies, Grandpas, Grandmas, and care givers of all types! I designed this coat for me, but was so elated to hear that my friend's husband was truly interested in being able to wear one. I now have several fathers wearing 2 Cozy Coats, and I can't wait to hear who else will wear them.

About me
My name is Andrea Wan and I love sewing, I've been quilting for the last few years, as well as making gifts and things for my family and friends. I sell a lot of my creations in my etsy shop, Wan of a Kind Creations, and I wanted a place where I can show more pictures or explain more about my work. I also sew a lot of things for fun that I want to be able to share with everyone.
I have two beautiful children who I am constantly sewing for, and my husband who always needs a button repaired or something. I own a combination embroidery and sewing machine, and a serger and I make them work, probably much harder than they should have to.
I love sewing and crafting, so come with me and let see what we can make. I'm always looking for inspiration and new fun things to make.
